Summer is officially here and hot days are on their way. So you know what that means…summer clothes are out. As a mom of two little ones lets just say short shorts are no longer in my wardrobe for summer for certain reasons you can imagine. I do have some staple pieces that travel with me throughout the year though like a nice light denim shirt(or chambray shirt). This shirt can be dressed up, dressed down and just light enough for summer days.
There are so many countless ways to wear a denim shirt and you basically can’t go wrong with any way you combine it. So for today’s post I collaborated with my friend Vanessa from Life Of Torres to show you a total of 4 different ways you can style this shirt and feel comfy during the summer.
A lot of my days, lets say Monday through Friday, consist of running errands, doing activities with my two little ones, and just running around doing stuff. So for my first look I decided to do a casual look, something you would probably see me in if you saw me around town on one of these days. First I decided to layer this shirt on top of a simple white t-shirt because here where I live, most mornings are on the cooler side but as the day progresses it gets hot. So when that time comes, I take it off and just wrap it around my waist as a “booty” cover as most mommies know it. The jogger pants are a good alternative to jeans because they are really light weight and breathable. Of course, summer is all about the flip-flops for me. These are really comfy and durable, enough to last me all summer because I basically live in these.
For my weekends I tend to dress up a little more either for date night, events, or family gatherings. So for my second look I went with a nice lace skirt to keep me cool and a cute little belt to bring it all together. As a mom I am mostly in sneakers but if I have to wear a heel, I tend to go for a wedge rather than a thin one. After all I still have to chase two little ones all the time. I also love rolling up my sleeves to expose my arms and not over heat.
So there you go, hope you enjoyed these ideas and don’t forget to visit Vanessa over on her blog LifeOfTorres.com for additional looks. We are both moms on the go but still enjoy dressing comfy and cute. How do you like to style a denim shirt?
